Hi

I'm thinking of getting one of the above and using it most days with about 3 track days a year. Will it be reliable and reasonable to run? I do about 8k miles a year for work and another 4 for normal blatting about so I want a car that does a bit of everything. I have my eye on a dealers Evo 8 260 which i will slightly modify so thoughts please especially from anyone that actually does what I am contemplating?wink

Reliability no worries, servicing at 4500 miles (£120) and also good to drive around town. I've got mine up for grabs if interested.

260 is a bit slow for an evo though? :P

Evo8 260 is a great 'value' car IMHO. I had one a couple of years ago and did over 12k miles in the year I owned it. Absolutely no reliability worries, and I only had to outlay for routine servicing and Optimax.

Being 'only' a 260 model you will get ribbed by those who own the 'full fat' MR Evo8's. I didn't care about this as coming from a UK classic Scooby turbo the 260 was in a different league and was plenty fast enough.

One mod I did and recommend is change the std exhaust for a full exhaust upgrade. I got mine from RC Developments and was very pleased.

Good luck.

Up to about 18k so I might be able to get Fq one for that money but my local dealer has a nice black 260 for 15k and I like the idea of warranty and p/ex!

I have driven a 260 before and it was plenty quick enough until you get used to it I guess!

18K would get you a low mileage private MR-FQ320. Not just quicker, it also has Bilstein suspension which would make its ride more tolerable on a day to day basis.

Have a look over on www.lancerregister.com

really that cheap? That isn't bad then at all. I always imagined it'd be Skyline-pricings each service.

Now if you could get an option with all the chav-tat removed from them...

You can, it's called the Evo X and it will be out in May!!!

I had a 260, it's a great starting point for the '4wd nutter' class.

Never heard of an MR FQ 320. There are only specialized MR versions of the 340 and now the new FQ-360 MR by HKS!

I'd have a 260 for an everyday car, still very quick and capable no matter how you look at it.

I obviously know nothing about Evos!

[Hint, look at my profile]

[Hint 2]For all you've (n)ever wanted to know about Evos, read this excellent guide

The Jap MR is the same spec as a UK MR-FQ300 wink

The UK FQs are tuned further by Mitsubishi CCC - the official importer. Hence the 320 and 340 variants. 400 was a special, with lots more bits changed.

[pedant mode]The UK MRs are also easy to tell as the reg plates all start with WX[/pedant mode]

Pretty fantastic residuals for a good one (or optimistic sellers?). MRs are a good balance of nutter:road car though. Sixth makes motorway work a pleasure.
