I don't own any exotic/expensive cars, but one day I will.

One thing that would worry me though is where the hell would you park a lamborghini or ferrari?

Do you park it in the multi story? surely it'd only be a few hours before some **** keyed it or kicked it smashed it or whatever.

So how do you get around this?

How do you deal with chavs following you home because they want a race or want to know where you live?

Depends where you live. Parking in Central (Zone 1) London I wouldn't worry at all.

In a smaller town I would be concerned.

it wouldnt get keyed in zone 1, but I have seen some amazingly bad parking - with people using bumpers as brakes - so you'd probably end up with damage frown

Would never leave mine parked in a town. Am wary about people following me, and will often take a detour if I think someone is. Sometimes will stop at my local garage. If it's someone who just wants to ask about the car, no problem. If it's anyone dodgy, I imagine they wouldn't stop.

No worries parking in Central London generally. I park at Tesco's all the time too (sometimes in 2 spots though boxedin)
Just use common sense I reckon.

Its a actually a big issue..So far I have felt safe leaving the car at Bluewater. I was cacking myself when I left it in Blackheath and on my return saw members of hen night getting out of an essex chav white limo...fortunately the driver was a Ferarri fan and kept them well away

Brighton was also OK-left it in a car park in the city centre and Canary Wharf...well...my car is the one of the cheapies in that place.

Very nervous about supermarkets (never!) and generally leaving it in any city centre. It really is a liability and you do have to plan ahead. Its one of the reasons I think that these cars cover low mileage

This has always been one of my bug bears as well. My g/f laughs at how much i worry / plan / think ahead about such trivial matters as parking ones car. Even with our Golf i always find a space which has the least opportunity for a knock or scrape. I have got to know which are the best spaces / quieter streets in london because of all this also...
...sad i know.

There are more important things in life to worry aboutsmile

Park mine like a normal car and {touch wood} haven't had any issues.

Yep, you get used to walking, it always amuses me at my local tescos as i park down the far end, miles from the entrance where it is quiet and you can take up as many bays as you like. There is generally several "nice" cars down there and i've often had a chat with owners as it appears we all feel the same way. Its just not worth the risk of leaving it anywhere there is not a decent amount of free spaces as sooner or later it will get damaged, park somewhere safe and walk.

Too right mate. Park mine everywhere, parking dings are cheap to sort out and anything more serious is insured. It's only a car, use it !! I also believe that poeple parking next to some piece of exotica are more aware of its presence and are doubly careful when opeing their doors. Or maybe i'm an optimist !!

I park anywhere available TBH - car parks, side of the street etc. But then, I'm never in the Lambo when I go into town, always the Camaro smile

Anjum used to leave his cars (several Diablos, 550M etc) on the street in Balham with no issues. I have left TVRs pretty much anywhere with no issues at all (not quite the same I know - but TVR body work bills are still pretty high...).

I don't think the world is full of people looking to scratch your car - obviously it happens, but so does everyone else - do you not go to places because you're scared of being mugged ? How often do you get mugged ? It happens, but it's no reason not to go places.... (imho)

Its not so much malicious damage I worry about-its more careless idiots who open doors without thinking, kids climbing on the bonnet to have a photo taken.

I feel the same about this when it happens to my Passat (though you dont often find people climing on the bonnet to have their picture taken with it for some reason)...

So far on the Passat in 6k miles and 8 months-

Hit and run to the rear bumper
dent in the door
3 scraped alloys

Bloody London traffic/drivers!

I often park around the motorcyle parking area. The bikers generally like machinery of all kinds - some of them look a bit hard which is great for keeping the chavs away.

Are you blaming 3 scraped alloys on a third party ?
