I'm starting to actively lust after 911's but know nothing about them. What do you get for £25k? Does it make sense as an every day car? Are they really horrendous when it rains? Will I 5#1t my pants?

Do tell!

Cheers,

Tom.

Where do you live?
If it's in London, get something else. I work in the City and they're as common as pissed-up chavs in Cardiff.

Whilst the man is correct in saying there a lot of them in London - who cares. He has a BMW so smartly chose quality over rarity himself. In Sweden there are a lot of cute and attractive blondes, this doesn't mean they aren't worth having - I mean would you choose the fat bird there just because she's rare ?

There was a thread last week or the week before on the 996 as a daily driver, I would have a good read through that.

Handling in the wet depends more on which tyres and their tread level than anything else. AFAIK 996s aren't notorious for handling problems in the wet.

Your profile mentions a Tuscan - Compared to that its like driving your everyday vehicle. 25k gets you in a pre-facelift 1998-2000 996 (3.4 instead of 3.6), would advise an OPC Warranty at £895 and a pre-purchase inspection at £250 as there are allot of dogs out there.

Fine for everyday driving as i average 26mpg going to work everyday in stop/start driving, 29mpg on my way up from London to Glasgow.(Runs on Super Unleaded 98.9p at Tescos) Its rained once since i have had it and it seems ok.

Insurance was £640 (31,clean,FNCB)

99x's are perfect every day drives and no issue in the wet unless you do something really stupid (GT2's and cars on first generation cups being the exception)

I think he's reffering to 964 (89-93) 911's on 17" cup wheels. Not sure why though. Unless I misinterpreted and its a connection to very large breasted women.?

Cup tires more likely.
