Erm, anyone in the porn business?

Hi chaps

I'm interested in setting up a web business, that could be run from home as a side project to my main business.

Now my thoughts were initially centred around running a dating site.

Now, as far as I see it, a dating site needs only to have an ability to browse profiles and contact other members, and an online shop to buy membership and for access to only be granted via password to those who pay their membership.

On the other hand, there's also the option of starting up a naughty site. Probably try something a bit different to the norm as it's obviously a well-catered-for market.

How do you get started in this mucky, grimy 'ol business?

I realise this might be cutting things fine mods, so if it's not what you want discussed just delete the thread. I just heard a couple of PH'ers were porn barons

Actually, i'll try and help make this a serious thread. First of all you need your subjects for the 'out of the ordinary' content. I guess paying these people is not cheap, unless you are lucky enough to have someone willing to sign for a cut of sales. If you're really really lucky, the very fact that you could supply people with a safe area to perform these acts, some will happily get involved for free.

My friend and I have thought of a great name for a porn website, we need to gain the rights to it and then we can sell it for millions after it has been set up.

I am in the porn industry! Its more behind the screen, watching too much of it though! Its melting my brain!

It's a notoriously difficult market, and there is a lot of collusion and crowding out by the bigger players (it was one of the more interesting seminars at a comference I attended! ). To make people want to pay, the content has to be different from the usual free smut available, and usually with very high quality videos and / or pictures.
