not unless you have not already considered driving it into a canal and reporting it lost in the flood waters smile

It's just unfortunate that you happened to buy a great car but one that suffered on the open market for some reason, maybe the police having a lot of them turned the general public off them. All I know is I was considering buying a new one a few years back as they were being offered here in northern ireland with huge discounts and I mean obscene discounts for anyone who paid full price for one. As second hand cars now I've seen them going for insulting prices ( far lower than they should be) in auto trader so as a trade in at a dealer I couldn't see them offering more than £2000 -£3000 for that particular model ( being black it probably got a better offer than most of the other colours).

I've just sold one privately for £2,400. To be honest I couldn't see them offering more than 1500 for it. There swines like that wink

Could be worse though....imagine you bought the likes of a 750i BMW and kept it for too many years....

You'd take an even bigger hit then !!!

Its unfortunately a sad reality, that when you buy some of these "expensive" cars from new or almost new, if you keep them for a few years, you are going to take a big hit when it comes to selling.

On the flip side, its great for used car buyers looking a luxury bargain. I would defo try and sell it privately first. Trade ins are not a way to save money.

Not quite the same car but I remember a few years ago buying a 10 month old Vectra with 4k miles on the clock for little over 50% of the new price.

Kept the car for about 6 months or so, I realised why it was cheap! Nothing physically wrong with the car just totally and utterly boring.

Its probably worth circa £1600-£1800, but bear in mind its a 7 year old car so no Vauxhall dealer would be able to sell it on. You could probably negotiate a similar value as a straight discount with no part exchange and then sell your car privately after the event imho
