CLUTCH TROUBLE ????
Discussion
From out of nowhere my clutch pedal has acquired about 50% travel before biting and the bite point has changed and it,s now barely driveable without stalling it
Local garage thinks it,s to do with a rod that joins the pedal to the cylinder being bent and someone else has recommended bleeding the hydraulic clutch ..
Any ideas please .........

Clutch cylinder would only need bleeding if air is getting in, poss a knackered seal on either the mastercylinder or the slave cylinder?
Would be interesting to understand if and how the mastercylinder rod got bent?!...unless something's seized and you've got Strongman calf muscles....
Calling Baz Hartech....

Calling Baz Hartech....Could be loads of things, possibly hydraulics (assuming an `86 on car), clutch fork problem, clutch pressure plate collapsing, partial seizure not allowing a full return. Can you hook your foot under the clutch pedal and lift it back towards you (ie it`s sitting lower than it should be), then if it does pop back does the clutch work properly again. If that`s the case then it`s probably hydraulics.
You need to make sure the clutch isn`t too heavy and straining the hydraulics.
Hope that helps, very hard to diagnose without seeing though.

Mine did this, and it turned out to be the clutch slave. When I took it apart, the slave just fell into two pieces. If the slave has been leaking, it's a precursor to it's failure. The oil leaks onto the top of the gearbox, and the airflow as the car moves forwards drags the oil onto the tinware around the front of the engine.Local garage thinks it,s to do with a rod that joins the pedal to the cylinder being bent and someone else has recommended bleeding the hydraulic clutch ..

I'd have a reach up into that space, particularly on the kerbside, and see if you get an oily hand.
Obviously all of this assumes that you have the G50 box.
