Cheaper this way, and they get a 50% discount at the crematorium....

<rant mode>At the risk of sounding callous/sick or otherwise politically incorrect...I fervently wish the off duty BiB hadn't tried to put the B'stard out. In so doing his being there and discharging his sworn duty wasted more public money in hospital care trying to keep 'torchy' alive as well as wasting a perfectly good fire extinguisher! </rant mode>

I hear that his estate will be heavily taxed due to having two carbon footprints.

I think you're missing something here that's vitally important.
The copper would clearly have it in the back of his mind that this lunatic was much more valuable alive as he can be questioned as to the whereabouts of the other lunatics involved in this and other attacks all over the globe.
That is why he attempted to save him.

There's a similar thread to this in P&P. My views are somewhat prejudiced on terrorism matters.

I missed nowt ...it wasn't meant for debate it was a rant...MY rant.
Cogitate all you like on the morality of what I wrote, it still doesn't change my opinion....the scum bag should have been left to toast (IMO)He poured the petrol over himself...he wanted to toast ...so let him I say!
Anyway the passenger of the vehicle was already in custody so BiB had all the opportunity to glean what info they could from a live (rather than an over-cooked) terrorist suspect...Judging by the string of arrests after the fact...they interrogated the scrote well!

I completely disagree, it's the fact that we tried to save him, spent our money on his hospital care and tried to put him through the justice system that distinguishes us as a civilised society different from them.

Let him burn hoo, hoo, hoo, ha, ha, ha, makes us no better than the scum ourselves.

Nothing personal in my response either...smile
Sorry Bert, you are entitled to your opinion, but like you said about mine.. I don't agree with it.
I have no sympathy for these people who think blowing people up in the name of their religion is an act of a true believer...if they were mad dogs we would put them down...but because they stand upright on two legs and can talk like any other human we want to save them, or nurse them back to health if they are injured whilst murdering (or attempting to murder) some of us so-called 'civilised' people. Then once they are fit and well again, we put them on public show in a courtroom spending ever more on advertising their beliefs on their behalf...for what? Justice? So we can sleep easy as civilised human beings whilst the rest of the terrorist ilk laugh at us for being so soft and promptly go and blow up some more innocent/civilised humans?...Sorry again but THAT is wrong.
I'm no 'Citizen Smith... Power to the revolution' type or anything so sinister; I'm just ordinary Joe who sees these 'people' killing, bombing and maiming with almost embarrassing impunity almost on a daily basis on the TV news programs ...and but for the Grace of God could easily have been passenger on the Tube or the Bus that were blown to bits not so very long ago in our Nations' Capital.

From my perspective its my job and that of the officers at the scene to do our best to preserve life, even that of a terrorist. To not use unreasonable force and to see that they face the juctice system. I spend much of my time dealing with people who hate me, I mean really hate me yet always go when they call. Thats the job. Without fear or favour.

I agree with you about them. My comment is about how we think and behave. We are a civilised society, that carries a cost. Makes us an easy target, has obligations on us on how we treat others. I don't like it any more than you, but we only have two choices, to be a civilised society or like them.

Read this and stop ranting; debating is much more constructive.

We can still 'think' and appear civilised...just let the scum burn. That would send a more meaningful message to the rest of the terrorist regimes than the 'turn the other cheek' one we are sending now.
Morality means nothing to terrorists.
