Replacement leather for S3 binnacle

question im posing
I have a 87 S3 ..... with grey half leather .
Leather is in really good condition ...except
I thought there was a missing plastic cover, on top of the instrument binnale ..housing the heater outlet....

Im told that the leather had shrunk !!!!!!!!!!!

NOW. ....
1. IS THERE IS A PLASTIC COVER THAT WOULD FIT AROUND
THIS HEATER OUTLET

2.Failing that ... and the most logical......

What type of grey leather was put in these cars ?as.... are they a special type of leather
or
Is it any greyleather ....that could be put inplace of the original

IFSO
where can i get some ..well enough to recover the binnacle area.....in UK and AUSTRALIA...and maybe in Kylie country (NZ)

How large of a gap is it?
There is a chance that the leather can be reworked and by using some hand tools to mould it back under the the vent.
