Anyone know if the systems used by :

Aston Martin
Porsche

Are truely active ..

i.e Negative sound wave to cancel exhaust pulse..

or whether they just use a good old flap valve like a pair of throttle control valves..

The sound made by the Aston V8 is just unbelieve able but it;s nice and quite around town .. (fuse 22)..

I though that would be the case

You would think someone would do them for mis-selling .. or something.

Anyone know if anyone makes an after market system yet .. it seems to be an easy and desirable bit of kit to put in a custom built silencer.

An mate with a Porsche said it's a £1500 option FYI.

Custom Chrome in Nuneaton were looking into it around the start of the year, though don't know how/if things have progressed.

I have an American Jegs catalogue and they have sever like this - really designed to just save you the bother of having to un-bolt an exhaust system at the strip to run open headers..

I'll give they a call on Monday.

Yamaha EX-up valve. improves low end torque without affecting high end revs. Why no car companys haven't tried this i don't know!

Well - Yamaha must have had a patent on it .. but it must have expired because others not have them (Suzuki) etc..

I don't think cars go for the very high revs (except Honda VTEC ) and that VTEC is it's own way of improving the midrange.

In short - no need for it.

Why is it that the silenced system has to take the folk? Surely if you want a true straight through system you want the minimum disruption to the gas flow possible?

AET Turbos in West Yorkshire have an active exhaust system available which may interest you guys. It has three modes one of which is active the other two are pre-determined I think, thereby allowing the exhaust characteristics to be changed.

Here's the link:

Yeh,

AET Turbos are able to offer the units to "forum customers" for £350+VAT, just mention this thread if you call AET and they will honour this discount.
