Why do the Mini and Jaguar bottom come bottom of the league?

An uncomfortable Jaguar, doesn't surprise me as I consider the X-Type to be a very disappointing car, I think the cheaper Rover 75 is far better.

Poor access in a Mini ? Whatever next, bad fuel efficiency in a Lamborghini ? High noise levels in a TVR ?
This story wouldn't have been a surprise if they'd run it on Drivel, but What Car usually has more sense.
New X type does have crap seats in the basic version though, Sport seats are vastly superior. Jag dealer says basic seats are Mondeo derived, sports ones sourced from Lear. A/c controls may be a bit awkward, but what about the newer Alfas or the bizzare BMW 7 control system (fine if you don't mind buggering up the suspension settings while you're trying to find Classic FM.)
