What equipment do you play, have, and generally fiddle with?

Zoom GFX-8 (but don't use it much since getting the Mesa)

Future plans:

I want a cheap(ish) parametric EQ if I can find somewhere that has one I like, for the money I want to spend. Let me know if anyone is thinking of selling one

Hanslow raised the bar, so I'll put in the base line.

Until last weekend (when I was drunk and decided a girl was important than a guitar (What! ) as it fell the to floor and the head snapped off across the E pegs! D'oh!) I had cheapish second hand Stag Acoustic with nice heavey strings that my Ex bought me.

I really liked it and it sounded pretty nice but I need something better now.

I also have a Washburn X-series which was shouting quite well through a VOX DA-5 (recomended for beginers/home practice, ie. me) until it lost it's voice.

So it's back to the Silvertone PSA1 until further notice.

Booo!

Used to have a load of kit - nothing special bar an LP Custom and a Studio, and a Marshall stack.

But my fave was a Yamaha 12-string jumbo acoustic.

I sold the lot years ago .... and now REALLY itching to get back into it. I want to setup an AC/DC tribute band (for a laugh).

Considering an old Yamaha SG2000 or SG3000, which I've always a weak spot for, but never owned.

I have a home-made (from bits) Chandler strat that's 15 years old, had it from new and it's now nicely relic'd Also have a cheap Fernandes Tele copy that's very good, needs different pickups though, just haven't got round to it.

Jewel in the collection is my 1967 "blackface" Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. most awesome piece f kit ever. It's currently SORN'd in the workshop for a service, can't wait to get it back.

Only other gadget I have is a Line 6 TonePort, which is a fun bit of kit, great to record with.

Currently have a Fender Jagstang (Kurt Cobain design, pity he didn't get around to signing it), Fender 12 string acoustic, Yamaha 6 string acoutic and a cheapo Jap Strat copy. Used to have a Marshall JCM800 but sold it, now just have a small practice amp. Effects via a Zoom 1010 and an original Crybaby Wah pedal.


On the shopping list (as soon as the ex releases some funds ) is a Gibson or Epiphone 335 and maybe a Maton Tommy Emmanuel acoustic.

Great thread, I've been playing since I was at school, and i'm now 26. I play rhythm lead stuff on the electrics, but been dabbling with fingerstyle stuff for a few years now.

Madazrx7 - def try a Maton, they are a sweet little guitar, and the apmic pickup system is awesome. Best guitar for the cash. I have the Artist version of the EBG808, didn't think I could earn the C.G.P status, and it's my fave instrument.

Anyway, my gear is as follows:

late 90's mex strat in midnight wine with rosewood neck and cream plastic. Took it to bits and fitted a Callahan rolled steel tremolo block, wiring, pots and saddles with Fender custom Fat 50's pickups. A real tone machine now!
Something like this:


G&L (George Fullertone & Leo Fender) ASAT in butterscotch with rosewwod neck. I was after a tele, but after trying some, I bought this on a whim over Ebay for a huge discount. It paid off and it is great to play. Trad tele sound with stratty overtones.


Maton EBG808 Artist. A bluegrass size acoustic made from Australian timbers with peizo and mic pickup system. A pickers guitar often heard being played by Tommy Emmanuel. The satin varnish on mine was worn off where my arm and heel of the hand sits so looks nicely worn in.

I'd love either a goldtop LP, resonator or classical (Line 6) next. May look at upgrading my strat for an Eric Johnson model in sunburst too!

Woohoo! We got a music forum!

Another guitarist here. My style is playing badly. Blues and old rock is my thing though really.

My electric is an Epiphone Les Paul and I have a a Taylor 414 L7 acoustic for quieter moments.

I've got a couple of amps, depending on how loud I want to play. The practice amp is a Fender Champion 300 which I use a Zoom G9.2tt effect board with. It's quite a good combination and the Zoom is remarkably good for the money. When I want to play a bit louder I've got a Marshall Silver Anniversary combo. That rocks quite hard!

As it seems to be the done thing, I'll get some pictures up of my kit when I find my camera.

My current axe of choice is my ESP LTD Viper-1000 Deluxe, which is an absolute dream to play and is the only guitar I ever use. Mostly because the other guitar I have is an Ibanez EDR-470EX, which I'm in the process of selling. I use a Marshall MG50DFX and occasionally a Boss GT-8 effects pedal - I only ever play at home and I'm not in a band, so no need for anything higher specced!
