Clutch Cable trouble.
Discussion
Hi Guys
Yesterday my clutch cable broke for the second time in my 3 weeks vacation. I should perhaps mention that my car is a pinto'ed Dax Rush, i've bought it recently but have managed to find out that the clutch cable is from a Ford Taunus. As far as i know the Gearbox is called MT75.
But the reason to this topic is to hear if there is any alternatives? I've been thinking of converting to hydraulic clutch. Perhaps some of you could reccomend a company who makes this as a kit?
Very kind regards
Dennis

I've converted Escorts before. This little item is useful. http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info....
It's just a matter of sorting the pedal end....

How about a stop behind the clutch cable ? Have you got to much travel and straining the cable ? Leg muscles are very strong.
Yeah i think that might be the problem. I had an a stop on it in upwards direction, because the pedal was to high. I removed that because i thought that was the problem. Right now i really just want to get a hydraulic job, and be over with it. But maybe i should buy a new cable and test if it strains the cable?Cables are very simple and straight forward so I would not bin it just yet as you will be making a lot of work for yourself.
If the break position is random then the previous comment could well be true that you are just straining it.
I suspect though, that the break is at the pedal end. Fit a new cable and get someone working the clutch pedal whilst you watch it down in the foot well. I bet when the pedal gets to the end of the travel it is no longer able to swivel on its pin and is bending just beyond the crimp. This bending and the high load will make short work of the cable. If you find the pedal does need to go that far then you may have the extend the slot in the pedal for that last movement of the crimp.
