quick thermostat query

Hi,

Ive found my car was not running a thermostat so im just about to install one, ive taken the cover off, now which way do i install it?

Im thinking the longer end (big spring) would be at the back of the engine if that makes sense??? and the short stubby end under the cover?

Spring is on the engine side, not the housing/pipe side (they dont normally fit the wrong way round anyway). Ensure the bleed hole is at 12 o'clock to avoid trapping air!

Also make sure it a proper TVR part as the std rover one while it will work only has a 25mm Ø hole compared to the TVR one with 32mm Ø so you reduce your cooling capacity with the rover part
