I tripped over a 3000M the other day.

Mechanically very good, wheels and tyres mint.

Paint was fair, with no cracks, blisters or mismatching panels. Shutlines perfect.

Interior was a bit of a mess. Seats fine, but the dash was coming to pieces.

Taxed and MOT'd and everything electrical worked fine.

Car needed a bit of TLC and was "Condition 2", but was capable of daily use.

As far as I could tell, the chassis was solid and had been replaced a few years ago.

The asking price was £3500. Does this sound reasonable for a sound, useable, but slightly scruffy 3000M?

I was almost tempted...

Thanks.

Sounds reasonable to me.
I recently paid £3200 for a Taimar, on original chassis.Runs well ( collected it from Edinburgh & drove home to Swansea), but seats and carpets tatty, manifolds nd exhaust near end of life, as are all drive line uj's and diff. Wheels were scruffy, but have refurbed them. The chassis has no holes, but needs tidying and rustproofing. I have set myself a budget of another £1k to get it up to a reasonable standard.( pic of it in gallery on m-fix web site).

Agreed. I see M's popping up on eBay all the time here in the states. Prices range from $5000 to upwards of $12,000 (thats 3000-7000+ sterling). Recently a super clean fully restored 3000m convertible went for close to $15,000. Beautiful car though. Immaculate. Even the ratty cars bring good money. My wife calls mine a money pit. I call a clean '74 2500m with 53k on the clock and less than $2500 invested a treasure. Buy it.
