Hi All,

I'd like to start a topic reguarding whether there is a noticeble decrease in price of Chimaera in winter for sale on the private market. Did you buy yours in winter? Did you get it cheaper than you feel it would have been in summer?

Please discuss

The reason i ask is that today i was talking to a local car dealer (who deals in MG's and such like, old and new, not TVR's) and he said that he sells convertable cars in winter just as easily and as pricey as he does in summer and he feels the 'Convertibles are most expensive in summer' is a myth. He said that they are easier to find in summer due to this reason, as many owners in no rush to sell will hold out untill summer to advertise, hoping for a better price.

What do you think, any experiances?

Thanks

Matt

I think is some cases like with the 500 , the prices maybe higher as there are half the amount of Chim's for sale which means very few 500's .The choice is less , also less chance of the odd person reducing the price massively bringing the other one's for sale look expensive .

Yes just choice is reduced in winter, which ironically maintains prices on the whole for those who do buy and sell.

A good time to buy can be Autumn when cars that have been on prolonged sale for the summer can be snapped up cheaply as demand falls.

As redcabbage says, there are far fewer for sale in winter so:

a) you've got less choice
b) market forces dictate that prices are not necessarily lower

That said, I don't think prices actually get higher in winter.
