Ok I got my new engine - been out today and put 4 new boots on the car ready for le-mans, just upgraded the headlamp wiring to seperate relays (now got front end LASERS 90/130 bulbs with 30 amp wire direct from the battery )

Take it out for a quick run and THE FRIGGIN THROTTLE PEDAL STARTS JAMMING OPEN now much as i love the sound of the motor on full tilt i am supposed to be running it in gently.

I have managed to fashion a much extended throttle stop from a long M10 bolt with a socket glued on the end to extend it even further - basically allows me just over 1/4 throttle - but doesnt let me push it down far enough for it to stick.

By the looks of it the problem is that the throttle lever has over the years worn itself a little grove in the track on the pedal and is now sticking in the groove and therefore not returning the pedal.

Anywhere know where i can get a new throttle pedal & throttle cable plus all associated springs etc from in a hurry (i.e. before le-mans), done a scan of all the usual suspects porsche-shop, type-911 and no one seems to have the pedal.

I beleive they are breaking several 944 of different vintages.

Still no joy on a new one.

EMC Engines to the rescue though car is due in there for first service next week on the new engine, just had a word and they have a 944 pedal box (of their own design for the racing 944's) which they will be fitting on Wednesday when it goes in for service.

Sorted

Take one large lump hammer and just tw*t the floor once in front of the throttle pedal. I guarantee the problem will be solved.

The pedal actuates a rod that pivots above it on the bulkhead, so when the car is lifted incorrectly the floorpan distorts and causes the pedal to "cam" with the rod, thus once it is applied and goes over-centre it will not return fully.

Will give it a go - thanks ninemeister, this will be our friendly neghbourhood tyre fitters then

Must admit reminds me of my old TVR - could fix anything on that with a big enough hammer

Think I am still going to replace the pedal as it is badly worn on the rails at the back.

But top tip there 9M

With a name like "dontlift", I suppose that's what they call poetic justice?
