Just back from a full week away, started off last Sat with the BBWF, back home to Lancs and then Scotland.
Some fabulous roads up there for Wedging and hardly a Scamera in sight! A slight shortage of petrol stations was the only downside but found one selling 99 RONsmilethe average mpg worked out at 24.3 so quite happy with that.
Wedge never missed a beat the whole time away, even the temp stayed rock solid when static in traffic for an hour!
Two sets of Yanks have gone back to the USA happy as Larry after an improvised photo shoot on the banks of Loch Lomond!
Can we have a BBWF in Scotland??????? got to be a consideration with those great roads, scenery, Haggis and Whisky!

Well I've done 900 in 9 days.
All on a fresh re-build, so now its nice and run in.

Still getting too hot but not over heating. I think it the rad. as that the only thing that not getting that hot.

Temp wise, I got fed up of panicking when the gauge apparently went too high. Bought a hand held temp sensor from maplins and dotted a few tell tales around the cooling system. Strangely the gauge has stopped going so high now but that was air locks in the heater I think, along with a height adjustment of the header tank. Cured airlock by a mod to the top heater hose. A valve to let the air out when @rsing around with the system.

Hi What mod did you do,

Also I think I remember samco doing a hose with a bleed nipple.

I think my problem is the RAD, but will get one of the maplins heater guns.

Basically, £2.50 odd of plumbing. Made a T piece with a bleed valve. Sort of the T upside down in the upper heater pipe before it passes through the bulkhead and the valve at the bottom of the T (which is now upside down so above the pipe). Found it great for letting out the air after messing around with the system.

I also fitted a stick on temperature tell tale on the top hose as it leaves the block and one at the bottom of the rad by the return pipe. They indicate max temp reached. Then I had the temp gun. Still use it as a check but happy with it all now. I don't take the temp gauge as gospel anymore.

Hi Rev, get my refills at a Scooby tuning garage in Rochdale Lancs, costs about £40 for a 10 lb refill and generally use about 2 bottles a year.
Installed it about 3 years ago and had no problems at all!

Are you after more HP or more Decibels????wink

To be perfectly honest, I can say that it has proved to be very effective and completely reliable, the kit I fitted is an American unit 'ZEX'.
It is a wet system that injects extra fuel as well as the nitrous, variable outputs depending on injector jet sizes and capeable of delivering 200hp if your motor can take it!

Can the drive shafts and gearbox take it .. probably not.. but I'll add it to the things to definately look into .. biggrin

So - do you have a trigger switch

or a variable controller.

Had no problems with the drive train, replaced the UJ's about 5 years ago with some decent ones and still going strong.

The Unit is wired into the throttle pot wiper and can be programmed to switch on at any point in the arc (mine is set at 70% throttle)Setting is very easily done with the control unit and takes about 30 secs.
Some set up's utilise a more crude WOT switch (wide open throttle) for activation.

A seperate arming switch is fitted on the dash and a purge solenoid clears any warm gas in the line and enables liquid N02 to be delivered at the crossfire injector that is mounted into the maf unit behind the air flow sensor plate.

Have looked into a progresive controller set up, but as I am only running 50hp jets the kick on the drive train is minimal due the smooth cut in from the Zex set up.

May at some point fit a remote bottle opener, but would probably end up using a damn sight more nitrous
Other benefits of NO2 are a much cooler charge delivery, and if you sell the car, it is easy to remove and transfer to another vehicle.

Installation took a couple of hours, removing the dash to fit the switches in the desired place took about 4!

The 10 lb bottle fits nicely behind the spare wheel and is mounted on quick release brackets

If your rad isnt getting that hot, it sounds like you may have an air lock in the system, my rad when viewed from the front of the car has a bleed nut on the top left hand corner, this helps clear any air locks out of mine after any work on the cooling system. ( thermostat needs to be open and the top off the expansion bottle)

The other mod to mine is the second rad fitted in series behind the fans, came off a Diahatsu and measures about 20" x 9" and fits very nicely in the available space.
Plumbing is straight forward flexi hose, major cooling is from the front rad and secondary cooling from the smaller rad.
Had some concerns about the water pump being able to cope, but everything has been ok for the past 2 years.
