OK, nobody seems to have started a thread on what we play (there used to be a couple kicking about in the P&P, but nothing in here!) so I thought it might be fun to start one for the non guitarists (they have their own thread! wink)

So, sign in with instrument(s) preferably with pics! thumbup

I play Horn - my weapon of choice is an Alexander Mod.103 double (late 70s/early 80s vintage) - mine was picked out from the factory by a pro and I was lucky enough to pick it up when he had a large tax bill wink It's had various things done to it over the years, had a new leadpipe, bell, and relacquer at Paxmans about 5 years ago. Plays beautifully, lovely sound, bang in tune, and lovely to look at too. The very last of my posessions that I would ever sell.

obligatory arty pic wink

I also have an old Lidl double horn which is not in the best of health, and a piston valved single F horn from the early 20th C.

On the lookout for a Bb/F alto horn to complement the Alex, either another Alex (107) or maybe a Paxman.

I also play Piano (lapsed as I currently don't have one frown), and have a long standing desire to learn the guitar.

ETA: I also have a selection of other random brass instruments kicking about - a couple of trumpets, a bass trombone, and I also appear to have acquired a euphonium from somewhere...

And the picture is where? smile

I mostly do low end growly stuff with this kinda gear:-

The bass is now (mostly) a Warwick fretless: the Squier was too unpredictable, the Yamaha too cultered and the acoustic too quiet. Hrmpf.

End result is http://myspace.com/stryngs (acoustic wordy navel-gazing...)

Guitars....

The only one I have a pic of is this one,

That was home built by the bloke who designed the pickups (just as a test bed, not as fancy as it sounds!)

Also have a gorgeous Washburn WP50 mahogany and rosewood Les Paul copy, with lovely rich sounding humbuckers in the obligatory cherry sunburst.

An Art Lutherie steel strung acoustic.

And a couple of nylon strung classical acoustics which technically belong to my father.

Piano.

I was classically trainined as a youngster (hence a love of classical music in addition to my love of dance, house and trance!)

Now only play occasionally as a form of stress relief.

Always wanted to play the guitar... but never did. My father-in-law is a guitarist and played for years in a small band that did the working mens' club scene doing cover versions of rock and pop songs.... he is pretty damned good to be honest!.... He always wanted to play the piano but never did!

Christmas is always fun when they come over... him with guitar in hand, a few drinks flow, and we have a jamming session!
