According to the paper BBC1 at 9pm, how a camera invented to catch terrorists has been addapted to catch cars (shocker!)

could be worth a rant at the screen!!!

Probably ANPR.

Oh yes, the BBC 6 o'clock news highlighted the "70% accidents caused by speed" drivel in one of their reports a couple of days ago too..........MoJo.

The BBC is state television, and partly funded by the Government, so they would of course tow the line

Did you notice how one copper showed that the tax disc had expired at the end of Dec-2002 and said as it was now Apr-2003 it had been running without a valid tax disc for 4 months (correct).

Two minutes later, his partner says how outraged he was as the car they had just stopped was using a tax disc that was 6 months out of date.

I wonder if they get their statements mixed up all the time?

Also just because your registration MIGHT be similar to a registration that MIGHT have been flagged they police can/will pull you over if they have cause to(i.e. they feel like it) - there is no way you could tell them to piss-off and get back on your way quickly.

I've got nothing to hide, but if I am stopped for no reason (albeit a fabricated one from the ANPR computer) then I should have the right to refuse a search without risking arrest. I'm sure they could find something wrong with the vehicle if they look hard enough, even though it is maintained very well.

it certainly seemed like they had chosen the most PC arrests to show us. non of the perfectly good cars, pulled for tedious offences.

Mind you, the suggestion was they couldnt pull enough tax and licence dodgers, why dont they just setup a road block round sections of london every now and again, and nick the lot of them?

to me, its so rife, cuz theres not enough police out there to form a real risk of capture. labours fault again...
