Would MS have made the 'boring' race more interesting...

Kimi Raikkonen labelled his Hungarian Grand Prix as a boring race after having to settle for second place behind Lewis Hamilton.

"It was a kind of boring race, just driving behind and waiting for something to happen. Nothing really happened so we finished where we started." said the Finn.

You're supposed to make something happen, does he know how to overtake or at least push so dame hard to force the other guy off!? I doubt MS would have just sat there.

Can someone tell me why Ferrari pay this guy so much?

Unless you are about 2 seconds a lap faster than the guy in front, you can't overtake at Hungary. That's how FA got past the guys in the early laps, but was then stuck behind Ralf for most of the race, only to get past in the pit stops.

KR was waiting for LH to make a mistake, but he didn't make one.

To wit: MS would have done no better than Raikkonen.

Well I guess MS could have shunted LH off but it's a bit early in the season for that. The Mclaren was just the faster car on that track and there was nothing Kimi could fairly do to pass it.

On that track, on that day it was. It was faster all weekend, got the top 2 times in qualifying and LH always had time in his pocket against Kimi. Kimi only closed up due to having about 3 laps less fuel and when LH needed to open the gap he put in some fast laps and then took it easy. I don't see what there is to question about the Mclaren being the faster car yesterday - it's plain to see.

Well being a MS big fan I agree I dont think he would have got past LH but I do think between him and ferrari (RB) they would have made better use of the Pit Stops and got him out in front.

Actually, I don't agree that the faster car yesterday was the McLaren. I think the Ferrari was faster once the circuit rubbered in and faster overall.
And if that's right then there no question, Ferrari will now close the gap on McLaren. I think McLaren need to find something to stay ahead from now on. Brace yourself.

The McLaren was the fastest car at the times that mattered. During the qually session and just before its 2nd pistop (once Kimi had pitted) when Lewis opened up a few seconds gap to give a safety margin over the Ferrari. During the final session we don't know how much the engine was turned down to protect it ready for the race in Turkey, plus Lewis admitted to having a problem with the steering.

I'll answer my own question. Alesi, Nurburgring '95. Hakkinen, Monza '98 (helped by smoke from Couthards blow-up).

I dont think the race would have been more interesting if MS had been driving.

Because, if he had been in Kimis place, both Alonso and Hamilton would have got penaltys for thier little game and MS would have been on pole.

I mentioned one of those already and it doesn't count if it's not a pass for the lead so that's at least another two out.

A pass that is not for the lead is easier and therefore less exciting.

Just watch a re-run of his last race.
KR was just one of several people he overtook in that race alone.

If anyone could have then MS would have. But as
someone else said the Ferrari would need to be 2 seconds a lap quicker
to do it. So I think even MS would have needed to do it with fuel load
strategy given the McLaren was probably the faster car in Hungary.
