Well the box will have to come off at a minimum, not sure if that will require the engine to come out too.
Once the box is off it'll need draining, splitting, the gearset removing, unbolt old diff, bolt in new diff replacing any bearings as necesary, re insert gear set, bolt box back together and refit to car.
All thats assuming theres no machining required on the gear casing to clear the new LSD.
On my daihatsu we had to remove some material from the inside of the housing to make my Modena Torsen diff fit. I also replaced the diff bearings and driveshaft oil seals.

Unless your confident with the inner works of a g/box then yeah getting the garage to do it might be best.
I know I wouldnt have been comfortable fitting my diff so paid a mate aof mine who's been inside g'boxes before to do it for me.
What sort of diff is it?
