Mini Makes Designer Driving Shoes

Don’t worry, they’re actually quite nice

It may not be able to compete in the fashion

stakes with pistonheads-branded t-shirts, but we thought you should know about the clothing collaboration between Mini and Japanese trainer brand Onitsuka Tiger. Tiger is creating a limited edition range of footwear for both men and women to celebrate the launch of the new Mini Clubman in November. Presumably, this means they’ll look hideously ugly from certain angles and you’ll only be able to lace them up from one side. Sorry Mini, didn’t mean to put the boot in…

The driving shoes go on sale in December (note to self: put trainers on emergency Christmas gift list) and will be available in three hues, including these chocolate brown numbers.

Hmmmmm one wonders how many MINI drivers in the UK actually heel and toe and would need these special shoes!? Or are they just a "fashion statement" with no real driving benefit!?

Most definitely yes. And no I would never buy a pair. Perfectly hideous. Just like the latest breed of Mini

Aren't these the same brand as those that Uma Thurman wore in Kill Bill?

Yep. I quite like 'em. Just need a matching one-piece leather suit and 88 ninjas to have a scrap with.

They do, because they are.

Onitsuka Tiger are more commonly known as Asics in the UK.

They generally sell 'technical' shoes under the Asics brand, the retro ranges are on the website under Onitsuka Tiger.

quite nice?

I take it that's the new way of saying "fcuking disgusting and only to be worn by the brown cords from British Home Stores brigade" in much the same way that "bad" or "sick" has become a term used to describe something good?

Ah my driving shoes!

Except mine have a wafer thin sole (I think they were designed for indoor use), very very slim and are about 8 years old. They're completely worn out and have virtually no leather left on them or much of the sole on the right hand side of the right one due to me putting them in the washing machine and hacking around in various machines/karts.

They are however the most comfortable trainers I own, and I can feel the pedal makers name through them, so are perfect. They look shite, but they work. cloud9

Puma already made branded MINI trainers around 2002. I bought a pair of black and a pair of grey ones with seperate inner "socks" which were meant for track use but are way too thin (makes your feet sore), the trainers were nice though.
