Just had a quote from the RAC for a 05 CV8 with Wortec Sports Pack, tracker etc for £516 which is £84 cheaper than A-Plan.

Seems the RAC are after my business again.

BTW Called Elephant as they get a lot of mention on this forum only to be told they don't insure cars that have been remapped because the reason to remap a car is to add more BHP (a qoute from the department of the bleedin obvious if ever I heard one) So, I guess we can strike them of the FAQ for modified friendly insurance.

How very odd. Try a quote via Elephant's website because it's definitely a ticky box on their list of mods.

I tend to stick the the websites if I can because most insurance call centre staff tend to be muppets in my experience and get all manner of things wrong.

(A-Plan give very good service but couldn't give me a good price this year)

Tried the website but I keep getting a timeout error on the second page so I called instead.

As for the RAC needing Cat1 alarm thats what made me leave them before. I explained that the immobiliser would be cat2 if Vauxhall choose to submit it for testing but the alarm only cover perimeter and not the cab so would not pass cat1. I told him about the tracker and he seemed happy with that and proceeded with the quote. When It came to the mods bit it seems that the wortec sports pack is listed as a dealer option and although mine was fitted by Monkfish he was happy with that as well.

I'm with Elephant at the moment and I have a Wortec sport Pac + remap; they charged me £35. I've noticed recently you cannot make policy adjustments on-line which is a real pain. Does anyone know if they'll cover a supercharger and if not who will?

FAO : SILENTMONKEY

Why would you tell elephant the car had been remapped ? How are they ever going to know ?? The car will look standard, i've never heard of an insurance company asking for a car to put on a rolling road before paying out........

We've just insured another Jag (V8) and A Plan demolished everyone else out of site.

Weird innit?

Because with in 30 seconds of research on the web they will know that the wortec exhaust comes with a remap and cold air intake mods! And if you fail to disclose any mods your insurance is void.

I just tried getting a quote from my current insurers for a change of car to a VXR8. Current insurers wouldnt touch it due to its value?! Said I would have to cancel the policy and start again! can that be right?

Its good to talk. phone

Had a chat to A-Plan and with a bit of fiddling with the excess the premium is now below the RAC quote (Just). So I'm a Happy Bunny, Paying less than last year plus I've now got the Sports Pack!! bounce

BTW: I'm 50, Just. I also Tried Greenlight they wanted £672.70

Hello,

I will be going with A-Plan this year, nice lady there quoted me £150 less than Elephant this year (A Flux wanted £400 more - yeah right).

I wish my insurance was as cheap as some of you other chaps, as being about 12 miles outside City Centre Manchester I get hammered despite being 35 years old and having 15 year NCB (no points either).

Cheers
Steven

Maybe worth checking Admiral if you have more than one car in household.
Just insured the Monaro 5.7 vxr,Jaguar xjr,and range rover all for £860.fully comp.seems a reasonable deal.

I was 30 when I got my modified cv8 and even that only just came to 750 with them! You must have an OL or an M postcode!
