Hi all,
I need power steering fluid for the 450. The owners manual recommends Mobil ATF 220 but can I find it anywhere - Is it still available? Are there alternatives? Just whack in some Universal stuff?

Cheers,
Matt

Matt,

I have a load spare - I had to buy some for my 450 but could only get the large (something like 4 litres) size. Ended up using about a thimble full!

Your profile doesn't say where you are but if you are close enough, you are more than welcome to help yourself to mine.

Mail through my profile if I can help.

Cheers,
Phil.

Have you tried your local dealer / place where it last had a service. They should be able to tell you what is currently in the steering rack.

I've put in any ATF (castrol etc - always a decent make) that say's it's specifically for use also with PAS. I had a PAS rack leak when I bought the car and it needed topping up regularly, so i put in what I could find. Everything seemed to perform as good as the Mobil stuff!

TVR may recommend the Mobil stuff whereas Ferrari, Porsche etc may recommend something else. Surely it's all down to sponsership and advertising deals!! ""Use Mobil 1, as used by TVR in the Le Mans race car"" kind of thing!!

Get down Halfords and whack in the best alternative you can find. As long as it's ATF that can also be used in PAS it's not a problem i think!

Had the car serviced by Penninsula, and I'm in Cardiff, so it's a tad of a long way to go for a can of oil....maybe Newtown Motors though?

My Halfords had Mobil ATF 220. Are you looking in automatic transmission fluids section as well as power steering fluid section?
