Porsche 997 GT2 Ring Times
Discussion
That looks a page from an official Porsche brochure - the typeface is consistent with their corporate branding, and they use the "Respect Required" logo which is as used on the GT3 microsite.
I think the graph has obviously been set to start the y-axis at something just under 7.30min, giving the large graphical differentials.
Onto the time. If they really have achieved 7.32 that is incredibly impressive. I've no reason to doubt Porsche, but of the course the real issue is that these times are rarely comparable - different tyre compounds, different track conditions etc, unless these times were all taken on the same day.
IIRC the GT2 runs on the specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, which will offer a significant advantage (perhaps 10 seconds or more?) over "standard" rubber.
Despite that tyre advantage, to get down to the same time as Porsche officially quoted for the Carrera GT (which runs bespoke Pilot Sport 2s), a car which is more powerful, lighter, and has significantly more downforce (although we've yet to see the GT2 figures), is amazing.
Stimmer - could you confirm the source? And was there any small print about how and when the times were taken?
Kind regards
Steve

The GT ran on bespoke but non-cup rubber for the 07:32 von Saurma did. The 997GT2 has stickies, which makes quite a difference. Still, I don't think they got the time down to GT levelsI think the graph has obviously been set to start the y-axis at something just under 7.30min, giving the large graphical differentials.
