Hi Everyone,

Wow what a great forum,

Need help on this one always wanted a TVR and ever scince i was a nipper now 30 and saved and can afford one...

Never driven one but and in cornwall very few here to look at and dealer is in exeter 2 hr drive, and not got any in stock ??????

I have £25000 to spend on a car, i was lookign at a Tuscan s, 53 reg blue, white and proland leather interior 7000 miles and serviced 3 times and 1 owner, 26000£

I then seen a t350 up close and wow what a car as well but just not as quick as the tuscan s and i think the t350 will lose money faster than the tuscan s ????

I am very scared now after reading this website after so many people having problems with the engine, spd6 okay i know that you need to look after them but dont really want to be paying out more money for a engine rebuild after 10000 miles so this scares me...

So then i came across the cerbera 4.5 v8 lightweight, 02 plate 7000 miles 1 owner mint condition 2+2 26k and as quick as the tuscan s

im so confused do want to waste miles drivign all around the country after cars but maybe this will be the case, also dont want to buy a car for 25k and then 12mths later it worth 15k but 20k is fine

also boom shell is the mrs is now preg and due in 8mths so 2+2 seams sensable altho she is getting a x5 for the nipper and her, tho family days out?

OMG so hard to make my mind up please guys help.

the car will be used 4 days a week to go to work and of course at week ends, work is 10 mile saway but ill alway take th elong way 15miles LOL and also love to drive for miles at teh week end.

Is the speed six engine really that bad? and should i play it safe with my money and go v8? or are they just as bad,

Does any know any good TVRs for sale from a reputable person, woudl love a Blue (GTS) red blue blus with leather interior cerber ot tus or t350

OMG HELP

Do you drive powerful rear wheel drive cars with no ABS and no traction control?
If not - do NOT start with a TUSCAN S!!!
Get a 400 Griff or Chimaera and go on a RideDrive course.

I started with a 170bhp S3C and moved to Chimaeras. The jump up to a mark1 Tuscan was massive and occassionally underpants challenging.

Start cool and build up, jumping into one of the most powerful TVR's ever built on a twitchy chassis just isn't a great idea
IMHO of course smile

I'd suggest that you test drive one - the power/torque in a light car with NO driver aids (traction control, ABS, etc) will be a revelation.

You'll get a different opinion from each person.
Go and drive a few of each model. You'll soon pick the one that's right for you.
You won't know until you try 'em!

Check out the T350/Tam/Sag forum for lots of good threads on car choices. I am two years into T350c ownership and have no regrets. Fairly practical car which will behave when treated with respect. Usable within reason for everyday use. Then an absolute blast when let off the leash as demonstated on Saturday at Diamond Rock!!

I had a test drive in a Tuscan at Castle TVR, the nice young boy (only just left school it appeared?) nearly lost it as he demonstrated the cars ability to slide the rear end round a bend. He then overcorrected the thing, and nearly hit the curb. He had me and himself worried for a second!

Anyway, these things are fine if you are just driving around enjoying yourself, but push them on, and they are a bit hardcore for me. The engine picks up like a bike engine on the throttle, which is great if you know what you are doing. As someone has said, if you have not driven anything like this before, you need to go try one first.

If you drive like an old women (like me) you will be fine.

The engine on the later Tuscan should not be a problem, as it appears they sorted the top end niggles on the later ones.
Again, I would consider the Griff with your position £££££££££££££££££££, cos you could buy a minter and save heaps of money. The griff would not loose much if you really kept it right.
Good luck on your search!!

gadgit.

Just pitching in for the Cerb here!

Hardcore, loads of fun, does require respect but is still fairly practical for everyday use too.

Having worked for Toyota I'd say that you can't really compare a Supra to a TVR - one has all the fancy gadgets (including ABS and traction control), is fast admittedly but is also pretty difficult to lose, the other is an animal!
Take your time, don't rush in, and check out what the other guys are saying. I can highly recommend the Ridedrive course too!

Why not go along to a local TVR meeting .. OK you cannot drive them but the owners would gladly show you around and take you up the road for a blast.

I think you need to sort out what model you want first.

All TVR's are fast ..

The difference between a T350 and a Tuscan S is nothing in the real world.. it really depends who is behind the wheel.
