... just been out to tea at the Olde Red Lion in Holme on Spalding Moor and a lovely black one arrived in the car park.

You can really see, especially from the back, that it is the same design family as the Lamborghinis. Very nice looking car.

oh ... and Vicki loves it! yes

Did it sound good Al? Hope it was given the beans as that mill in the RS4 sounds good.

What colour was it? Thoughts on aesthetics/that huge silvery panel?

What was the pub like too? Always on the look out for new places to visit.

Didn't hear it Stu as it arrived while we were inside ... having said that, we were sat by the window next to the car park and I'm damned certain I'd have heard a Ferrari or Lamborghini pull in yes

Don't know which silvery panel you mean. This one was metallic black and looked very nice and very well proportioned.

Pub's very nice, good atmosphere, nice old wooden beams and panelling but not small and stuffy, and a good menu.

Me and Vic are off out into york on Saturday. There's a very nice Champagne Bar and restaurant called Biltmores or similar that is meant to be very good for a meal. I'll let you know.

One overtook me on the M1 a couple of weeks ago. I saw it coming and opened my window. I have to say, it sounded absolutely fantastic! A bit like an AMG safety car on full chat but with a harder edge and some serious attitude.

I don't know how many have been sold, or how rare they are in general, but here in Derby, there are three I see fairly regularly. The lights look fab at night, they have that same set of diodes around the outer edge like a BMW, but in an evil shape rather than round.

Cheers ... we are booked in upstairs in the Champagne bar restaurant. Just a shame that there are no late trains back to Selby, Goole or Brough, so one of us has to drive.

Saw a silver/silver one at the ring the other week. Now I love my 911s and I know the 911 camp is where a lot of the R8 Hate comes from but my god the 911 looks like a poor reletive in comparison. The R8 is a really beautiful car.

Didn't realise that. I'm a bit surprised because whereas the 911 is a classic near perfect design, in my opinion the R8 takes it's styling from the much more contemporary Bugatti, Ascari and of course Lamborghini lines.

I think they would let most people in to the bar to be honest ... it was a bit of a let down, the Star at Harome or Heathcotes it is not!

Yes, the upstairs has lovely decor and place settings, but the food quite simply is not up to scratch. We spent nearly £100 (no bottle of wine either as I was driving) on food that was at best, cheap brasserie.

Also, the centre of the room being an open void to the downstairs bar was a double-edged sword. On one hand it adds atmosphere and is an interesting feature, but on the other, you really shouldn't have to practically shout to make yourself heard when you are sat at a two person table, the music was so loud from the downstairs bar.

We thought it might be an idea to try a mid-week night that may not have the mobile DJ in residence ... but the food was so uninspiring that we can't be bothered.

We'll do the Hotham Arms where we can get a taxi back into the bargain next time smile

(now there's a place that I can recommend!)

Is that the one in Hotham, York Al? I've heard good things before about it.
