Morning everyone, i am hoping to get some honest answers from you guys.

I have wanted a cerbera for ages, and now they are lower in price they fall into target. Problem is i have a little lady on the way end of october, so which i need to really know is :-

How is it for space in the back i.e. for a car seat ?

How reliable are they if they are only used about once a week ?

What sort of things should i look out for when buying one ?

Thanks for any help

Back seats great for kids but you won't get a rear facing (sub 9 month) seat in the back - can go on the front seat however and squeeze gf/wife into the rear if travelling as a three - once over about 9 months then can go in fwd facer so rear is ok (just make sure you get one that fits, like a Recaro Start).

Once a week is probably ok if it then gets a decent run, they don't like short hops really and they are no fun anyway as you are just constantly warming them up and keeping the revs down. Re what too look for, loads of info on the forums about this so do some searches, basically check chassis is sound, check service history and proper maintenance for engine but really just want to pay for a specialist inspection. Buying a known PH car is often a good idea.

Only concern I would have is that you mention that now they are lower in price they are "coming into budget" - don't know your situation but cheap to buy doesn't mean cheap to run and they DO have the potential to rape you wallet, in fact with the lower prices you are possibly opening yourself up to more potential in this area - make sure you are coming in with eyes open.

No, running an M3 would be a doddle compared to what the Cerb' can throw at you!

I came from an E46 M3 to the Cerb, the M3 is benign in comparison, but both can have high running costs. Having said that, the Cerb has the potential to blow a really big hole in your wallet, but there are plenty of people like myself who have reliable TVR's.

Hi Tricky 69. I think its far to say different cars, different experiences. There is no hard an fasten rules about how much they cost but if you budget £3k per year anything less is a bonus. I think with the expeption of a new battery I'f not had to spend anything else on mine - however I think I've only done 1000 miles. If its a car for the weekend then the space won't be a problem - but as someone said if you want a baby seat in the back you'll need to wait until she is circa 9 months and in a forward facing seat (then I think there are two options; Recarno start (which I have and recommend) or a Britix) My daughter loves the car. my problem is I also have a 8th Month old and we cant all fit in!! my car sits for weeks at a time and always starts (I have it stored in a garage) I am going to be selling mine as I cant justify having a Range Rover and a Cerb but I really dont know what other car would put a smile on my face quite like a cerb! you only live once... do it man.

You will be ok for rear space for a kid.Mine fits two easily, and one of them is 8.Using once a week is not to healthy. These cars need to be used. You will find that the cars that have been used on a regular basis, are normally the better cars.Check for general condition chassis in particular.A known weakness on Cerbs.Just because the prices have dropped, the running costs havent. It would pay a little if you were handy with spanners to takle some of the smaller jobs. You will always find something to do.One thing is for sure. You will have to spend six figures to get something with the same performance and attention as a Cerb.Good luck in your searchthumbup

Hi ticky69

I have a 3 month old baby and we use very often the Cerbera. The baby is in her seat, facing backwards, on the front passanger seat. My wife (165cm 52/kg) is on the backseat behind me (175 cm /75kg) and for short trip (until one hour) it is ok. for her.

If you do not go to fast it is not to loud in the cerbera. 70 / 80 mph we find o.k. for the baby.

The boot is big enhough for our buggy.

Yes you can use a Cerbera as a family car, but other cars offer more comfort.

Hi Gareth,
To fit your Recaro Start in the back, did you need the additional bar that's screwed into the floor and transmission tunnel, or did it just fit straight in? (Search doesn't help too much on that particular question...)

Thanks!

No Greg, you dont have to have the bar. Most of us dont. The Start sits in fairly snug and the bar makes it a 'little' more stable afaik

Ok thanks... But does that mean that the seat isn't that stable... I suppose it must be ok otherwise nobody would use them...

Nooooooooooooooo!woohoowoohoowoohoowoohoowoohoo

Sell the big old biscuit tin on wheels instead. The value of properties will slump when the cerb goes

Its fine Greg. Fits in nice and tight (especially with the way the seat belt goes through the bracket on the Start)

Legroom gets a little tight as the younguns get bigger.
