Not punting for business boys and girls but if anyone gets stuck fot tyres for the VXR8, I now keep these sizes in stock, mainly for my own use as I own a VXR8 myself, but if you get stuck, try me as I hopefully can help.

Buy the way if you are thinking of buying one stop thinking, just buy one, they are great news, love mine, it's a better drive than my old Monaro VXR 6ltr.

I agree re buying the VXR8, it is a great car and I haven't had any mods done yet.

I like the Bridgestone RE050A, great compound for grip and the comfort level is very good, also I think they give you a good feel in all conditions and on all surfaces, we don't know about the snow yet but I for one will take out the old Defender when that happens.

The whole feel of the car is just great, it's lost that "timidness" of the Monaro unless you have a handling pac fitted.

Mine has the power pac, cold air intake and cat back exhaust with the little button by the handbrake to switch from "loud to quiet", but loud sounds the best in my book, the performance is better IMHO than my old Monaro which had headers, exhaust and power pac, by the way all mods done by Wortec, well done boys.

The VXR8 is the best car I have had, and does it draw the crowds, you find yourself being hooted and shouted at in traffic, with comments like "what is it", "that looks fantastic" and "give it a rev mister", it gets respect and deserves it tooooooo in my opinion.

I do think that the S/Charger will have to come soon though, when the prices get a little better, any deals out there ???????

The 'old' HSV GTS still does the above every time I take her out, must be someting about 4-doors I think

Yeah, for a while after my last HSV "was written off" I found it rather strange to be able to visit a petrol station without the usual attention, questions, gathering of crowds etc. etc.
With only a few in the U.K, I'd imagine that will always be the case for the VT & VX owners.

Anybody got any idea's on how many VXR8's are coming into this country? I know that a lot will depend on demand, just curious if any specific numbers have been banded about.

Hi all,

We keep in stock tyres for the 20" upgraded wheels on the VXR8.

Contact one of the VXR8 dealers and they'll give you prices!

Cheers,

I think the 20" wheels and tyres will make the ride feel tooooo firm, 19" I think will do for me, also why pay all that money for a harder ride, maybe the people who take up this very expensive option just want the looks, will put the money saved towards the S/Charger.

I have the 20" on mine yes they look great!!

I also have the lowering springs and the ride is very good i would say no harsher than the 19" so i would be interested in how you came to the assumption the ride is too hard??

Not to hard to work out the difference bewteen the ride with 19" to 20", the lower the profile will mean not as much air so less cushioning efect, so more chance of damageing the rims as there is less rubber from the road surface to the rim which makes them drive firmer.

We quite often change our 20" R/Rover customers down to 19" or even 18" to get a better ride and cheeper tyres, depends on what floats your boat, especially with the standard of road surface in the U.K. at present, where does all the money go from the taxes we pay to maintain our roads.

I think the government ban stealing as they don't like the competition, If the French can have superb roads to drive on why can't we.

The amount of wheels that get damaged with the lower profile tyres against the taller profile tyres is much greater, the roads here in Surrey are just crap at present and I can't see them getting much better any time soon.

Andy's logic is true, but tyre technology moves on. Not so many years ago a switch to 60 profile tyres would cause the tooth fillings to fall out, now we talk of 40 and 35 profiles. The VE HSV GTS with Magnetic Ride Supsension and 20 inch wheels is actually more comfortable in my opinion than the 19's. The 20 inch upgrade on VXR8's in my opinion does not affect the ride quality greatly. Yes, great care is needed to not curb the car. l

Welcome to the forum Tessa. Great to see Walkinshaw represented.

Hopefully you can add some much needed length to the woefully short supercharging threads (that's a joke, btw laugh)
