Must admit first thing I thought was Peter Warr's comment that Mansell wouldn't win a GP as long as he had a hole in his rear end, he should know all about late success. After all by his logic, he 'should' have won the championship in '86 and '87.
He does seem to be bleating off again doesn't he, couldn't help stick the knife into Ron over the team mate situation, something else he stuggled with in those years...

I haven't seen Barrichello or Klien getting anything else out of the car all year either.
Right. But a great driver can still do well in a crap car.
A really great driver can help the team turn around a crap car into a winning car...

I dont know - a lot of what Mansell says makes sense...
Button used to be hungry, a real competitor, this year he's saying the cars crap before he goes into qualifying and he wont dont anything...
not sure what there is to about the honda to be honest. it must be pretty dire knowing that you have to compete in something that is uncomeptitive but not knowing where the answer lies. granted button in a mclaren isnt going too happen but i dont think he has lost that fighter spirit, just that is currently being hidden by general apathy towards this honda. he was one of the closest to schumacher in 2004 and i just dont think that you lose the ability if you are in a bad car. passion maybe, ability no.
to me its just another ex f1 driver voicing an opinion and not having to do anything to quantify it, telling us stuff we are capable of working out ourselves and know already. no doubt mansell is trying to get one of his sons into the seat or have they realised they are not going to make it as racing drivers and settled for golf?
Do people really think Mansell was voicing off? You don't suppose he might have been asked the question by somebody? In fact, I was there when he was talking about Button, and he was simply using him as an example, to encourage young racers to avoid the playboy lifestyle.
Mansell is trying to get his sons into the F1 seat? Ha! He's doing nothing of the sort!
And to those who think Button should be able to help make the Honda a good car again - well, since the main problems are reported to be aerodynamic, I don't think he has much of a chance, really.

Why is Mansell talking cock? Regardless of the car Button has struggled (in fact Rubens has out qualified and out raced him in the majority of races in 2007) and so no one is looking at him.
He re-signed to Honda because frankly that is his only chance now - Button may well win more in a McLaren but that chance isn't going to be given to him..

Wondered how long it would take for the troll to wake up...most team owners assume he is fully tied into Honda so don't consider him (and he has been confirmed for next year). As for performance this year, most of the experts have said he's done a great job this year, supported his team and not thrown toys out of the pram, which would have been very easy to do...He re-signed to Honda because frankly that is his only chance now - Button may well win more in a McLaren but that chance isn't going to be given to him..

This is a man who was once too fat to fit in a McLaren!
Is that what happened 10ps? Or did McLaren build a shit car that year that couldn't even accommodate the driver their sponsors had paid a fortune to sign up? Mansell always was broad, bulky even, but not fat. Let's not get personal against a great British sportsman who's been invited to make comments about Button's prospects which, in all fairness, aren't wide of the mark.
If he was destined for great things, he'd have demonstrated that by now. As a driver, he's never destroyed (or even materially beaten) a team mate in the way that MS, Hakkinen or Alonso have. This season, he's about on par with Barrichello, who's a shadow of his former self.
Button will never win the WDC, and I doubt he'll rack up more than 5GP wins, at a push.
