British GT Preview

Who Will Be ‘Top Gun’ at Silverstone?

The home of British motor racing plays host to the most closely contested series of the British GT championship ever, this weekend (11-12 August). With seven of fourteen races run, just five points separate the top 10 drivers.

Alex Mortimer and Bradley Ellis in the Dodge Viper currently have the slimmest of leads heading into round eight, sitting only one point ahead of Team Aston Martin’s Tom Alexander and Michael Bentwood in the driver’s championship.

The number of Ascari GT cars is set to double this weekend too, with Team Damax running a second car for Oulton Park race winner Oliver Bryant and Phil Keen, who will compete alongside series regular drivers Tommy Erdos and Steve Keating. Team Berlanga is entering a car for the first time this year for Michael Greenhalgh and Erik Zwart but they all have to catch the front running Team Eurotech - Preci Spark run thn the Ascari KZ1R of brothers David and Godfrey Jones.

Remember Pistonheads attendees will have a pre-race Q&A session with Damax Ascaria to discuss race strategy!

If that’s not enough racing, there’s always the British F3 International Series, where British fans can cheer on F3 rookie and Surrey-born Sam Bird. The 20-year old has already won two races and had six further podium finishes.

I've got a single seater driving experience on the same day.

If you see some nobby in a brightly coloured helmet spinning, and then waving wavey to the crowd at lunchtime, that'll be me smile

Sadly they do the driving experiences on the Infield Stowe circuit so unfortunately nowhere near the crowds!
