A guy I know has a new online shop.

He wants to use a well know manufactures logo on the site as he stocks the products. Although I said he cant unless you have the owners permission....

He seems to think that disclaiming 'all images / logos belong to their respective owners' is enough.

True / False?

TIA

Hmm...

So if I take his car from his driveway without his permission it is stealing...

...but if I were to drive around with a sign on it that says it belongs to him, then that is OK?

The simple answer is you are right though. You will need permission to use someone elses logo.

The manufacturer in question will have a corporate identity policy which will outline logo usage guidelines.

Some corporate identities are more restrictive than others, with a minority being absurdly so.

If your mate has a distribution agreement with this manufacturer its more than likely that a phone call will secure use with no disclaimers whatsoever.

DO NOT however use the logo in any capacity without permission being granted
