I wonder how a supercharged one will stack up against an M5 or E63?

Would have possibly creamed them if they had an automatic VXR8. Supprised me how quickly the others got off the mark to be honest, but mind you the VXR8 is one heavy car that is for sure.

Strange, according to Autocar today the results were as follows:

0-100:
Impreza
VXR8
S5
S-Type
335d
Mondeo

30-70:
Impreza
VXR8
S5
S-Type
335d
Mondeo

50-70 (in top)
S-type
335d
S5
Mondeo
VXR8
Impreza

It didn't come top in anything.

The video shows it gets off the line slowly, which explains the 0-100 and 30-70, and sixth gear is very high, which explains the 50-70 in top.

Also, in the video it gets past the S5 near the end of the run "at the top of 4th". What speed is that?

If the M5 is anywhere as good as the M6 it will destroy the VXR8(S)

They are seriously quick derestricted, the M6 VMAX`ed at 186 so gotta say the gearing is in its favour. (Looks like the VXR8 has a tall 6th gear too)

How can this be, the M5 makes (from memory) 502bhp and weighs 1700+ kg and a supercharged VXR8 must be good for 600+ bhp?

Depends which S/C. IIRC the Walkinshaw setup is 540bhp, limited to save on drivetrain warranty claims.

If you compare Rear Wheel Horsepower I think you`ll find they aren`t that far apart.
The VXR8 drivetrain is impressively strong, but low tech compared to the M5
Like I said, the gearing is better and as the engine is high revving it produces far less torque at the lower rev range (for launch), so it`s not so spinney wheels so it can better use its available power.
Having seen a derestricted (and possibly remapped)M6 perform I`d say its one of the fastest cars on sale right now, more than a match for all but the MOST expensive supercars (it was only 4mph slower than a Carrera GT)

I know the owner of that M6 it's had a re-map/ delimit from DMS
but apparently there is a second limiter at 186mph hence that speed
DMS are looking into it and when removed it should hit 190ish at Vmax

Lower diff ratio would see the VXR8 even further in front.
