I was at the Lowestoft event a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine enters boats in both the 150 and 225 bhp classes. Though you may like to see some pics

I was there (got a beach hut)
However, went out to sea in the morning for a doss about, the RIB that started the race was out early too, tried to catch up with him but couldn't (Only got 70hp). Saw the majority of them getting ready at the Haven Marina.
Anyway, cut a long story short, many on-lookers found it highly amusing that when the RIB started the race, instead of dropping back to the side, he just continued accelerating towards the north the end of the course leaving the racing boats standing!
He was running twin 225's I believe! VERY FAST

My pal who races (Team Delmar) drives a Lotus Esprit Sport 300. The boat used in the 150bhp was originally designed by Mike Ring (now of RIB fame, http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ringpowercraft/index.ht... ) who drives a Lotus Esprit Sport 350! Small world eh!
Even more so when you know that 25 years ago my dad bought a boat off Mike Ring and I used to ski behind it, then met up with Mike all these years later at an Esprit hoon, then found out the above more recently still!
Oh, and talking of fast ribs, this is one of Mike's!
