Still won't f*cking start :(

Calling all 4.5 owners in/near Bournemouth with the standard MBE ECU.
Meet Andy for 5 mins & let him borrow your ECU - even if just to try & start the car. That will then rule out the chip !
I'd suggest resetting addaptives & fault codes before you try & start Andy's car, as it may tell you where the problem is if it's not the ECU...

Thanks for the advice Olly. Chris has been kind enough to lend me his ecu already, that's how we tracked the problem to the Emerald.
The guys at Emerald have said that the ecu and the map on it are fine, so I'm kindof banging my head against a brick wall with it now.
I'm going to attempt to contact Trackcar and see if he can check the map over, given that the unit was fitted by him to start with......

Do you have a PC connected up to the ECU? You should be able to use that to confirm that all the sensor inputs are credible and it's picking up the crank sensor etc. You should be able to show the map graphically and confirm that's broadly sensible. If you can work out how to scale the fuel map then wind the fuelling down as far as possible, clean plugs, confirm that you're getting a spark at about the right time, then gradually wind the fuel up while cranking until it shows signs of life. If it won't play then take the plugs out and confirm they're getting wet.

I don't want to get that far involved TBH. Car runs fine with an MBE attached. Unfortunately I don't have a spare, so it's immobile until I can get the Emerald sorted.Scrooloose said:

IMO that's one of the really big advantages of these aftermarket setups - you have the tools at your disposal to investigate this sort of thing if you want to. Of course there's no obligation to, but the fact that you're prepared to buzz wires through and swap ECUs etc suggests that you probably have the right sort of attitude and competence to DIY if you wished to. If you do get anywhere you could potentially save yourself a lot of time and inconvenience. Go on go on go on go on, you know you want to!Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
