This looks quite tempting.
Can anyone vouch for it.
Good buy or money pit?

Advert seems honest and comprehensive, and its nice to see that its had a lot of money spent on it recently. Cat D is not ideal but at that price you cant complain

If I had somewhere else to keep it I'd be giving it serious consideration myself, looks very nice even though its Cat D.

the only downside i can identify, is the fact that the car is a GTSi .... the least desirable of the range.
i may be wrong here, but this was the first major foray into fuel injection for road going ferrari (due to emission control regs. via USA).
the power output dropped considerably from the 255bhp of the far superior, previous carburettor model.
to rectify matters, ferrari added two valves per cylinder (308qv variant) and soon after increased capacity an extra 200cc (328 range).

it is purely my personal opinion, but i think the 308 lost most of it's character once the carbs were binned.

ps ... for further extensive advice you could do a lot worse than "tap" into the wealth of knowledge on "club scuderia.co. etc"

Out of interest Dave ... how much keeping on song do those carburettors need? And is there much power advantage over carbs with the QV?

i completely stripped all four webers three years ago, ultrasonic clean, service kits, then rebuild, fit and balance.

haven't touched them since.

as for performance, ask nastywej & lamboandy .... biggrin

unsure of power output differentials al, sorry.

ideaI presume you could remove the injection system and refit some carbs though if you were good with a spanner or two?

Hmmm... hehe

Doubtless it could be done with modification but the cams, heads, inlet manifolds and plenum / air filter enclosure would also need changing.

IIRC, the "i" was about 215bhp whilst the carb versions and QV were both 255bhp at the time of manufacture - Factory always seemed to derate older models after ceasing production!!

Drove plenty of carb versions in all flavours + the original 1982 Paris Motor show QV - Very similar power output but the QV was more flexible and much smoother. On balance prefered the raw feel of carbs.

hope this helps
