What have people paid in the past for a set of Nitrons, fitted??
Advice given at my last service was that the shocks could do with changing so figured an upgrade might be in order. Anything else that should be done at the same time?
Speak to Gazman (Derek) - he will give you a quote for both Nitrons and Gaz.Advice given at my last service was that the shocks could do with changing so figured an upgrade might be in order. Anything else that should be done at the same time?

Austec fitted a set of Intax adjustables and new springs to mine, on a par with Nitrons I think, and it has transformed the car. It is maybe a bit softer and definitely more comfortable, but taut. And I can use the power on back roads in a way I would have never dared before - no more skipping from bump to bump, instead it flows down the road.
Nitrons definately the best upgrade by far for me on the griff...handling and ride feels soo much more secure and sorted, and my old shocks were not badly worn. But I think going for a rung down on the cost front such as Gaz will still be a big improvement. The most important thing is to get them set up properly though...I went to Topcats and was well impressed with their knowledge and they also set it up based on my weight. Always seem to come highly recommended for suspension set up both for road and track.
I see that £945 + is the Deamon Tweeks price, they are not always the cheapest so it may be worth shopping around, easy to fit yourself. You could try calling Nitron direct, very helpful chaps (and chapsesses). Seem to think mine were in the high £800s when I got them a few years ago so have gone up a bit. I agree with others, by far the best upgrade done to the car so far and easily adjustable for wet track, dry track, burbling to the pub, etc. Far better than the (admittedly 40k miles old) ones that came off. Can’t compare with the other options because haven’t tried them.
Ouy of interest, there is a firm www.absolutelyshocks.com advertising in the TVR Car club mag (sprint) with Gaz nickel plated shocks and springs, £529 special offer for a full set!! for use on all Cerb, chim, griff,Tuscon, 350, Tamora, includes Delivery and VAT ????????
Any one else seen them! Page 61.

As has been mentioned earlier, Gaz are a good make but they are lower down the price / performance ladder than Nitron. I'm not saying that Gaz are budget or rubbish or anything - I run Gaz Gold on my Corrado - but they're not in the same league as Nitron from what I understand.
Derek at AbsolutelyShocks sells both Gaz and Nitron now (used to do only Gaz, hence posting here on PH as Gazman) so should be able to comment on their relative merits.

Do remember Nitrons are essentially track dampers and as such should be serviced each year to maintain their abilities, this needs to be factored into your budget.
FWIW I regret having GAZ Golds fitted. I don't rate the shocks or springs and the fitting experience was shall we say an interesting one from a sfatey aspect among other things - my own viewpoint based on my own experience.

not to hard a job. I imagine you would pay a couple of hours labour depending on how easy the others are to get off.
last set of shocks I bought were for a Mini - about £100 all in
