What's the story with this picture?

I spotted this a while ago, and basicly I'm stumped as to what the hell happened here:



I mean obviously the head of a valve got rammed into the side of a rotor, but from where? I didn't think any rotaries had valves?

Would the rotor tip have broken off in to there? Its that or it was seized and removed with a chisel.

Christ only knows what's going on there! As you say, rotaries don't have valves, merely ports/holes in the crank case! Unless some one blew up in front of an RX7, throwing valve heads down the road, and a huuugggeee turbo ate the head and spat it into the rotor?

I'm not even sure that size of valve would have fitted through the ports would it? Perhaps some kind of photoshopped joke picture?
