Speeding ticket...

Alas! I have been picked up on a speed camera van sitting on a bridge over the A46 coming out of Coventry towards the M40...doing 67mph on a 60 road...what a sneaky way to earn a living....any tips on stringing it out passed the 6 month cut off period welcome....

Thats even below acpo guidelines which are +10%+2mph

Tell them you could not have been doing 67 MPH as you'd only been out of the house for 20 minutes

have a look at road signage where you were detected to see if it is exactly per the highway code - I believe that if the signage is not EXACTLY the same you can challenge it (i.e. if there is a yellow square around the Circular speed sign) or if the sign is obscured by trees or other signs etc.

I've also heard of people challenging based on when the camera was last calibrated etc etc... its got to be worth challenging

Have you actually got the summons or did you just pass the van at 67 ?
I reckon if you just passed it you won't hear anything, they always seem to send out the summons when its more clear cut.

Though if you're a PC of course its acceptable to test your police car at over 150mph on public roads.

Been very close to exactly the same 'sting' when I was on that road a few years ago. Luckily, one kind soul flashed me before the bridge and I peeled off some speed.
Have to say, don't really know why the limit is there in the first place!

Hmmmm, they're sneaky gits on that stretch of the road, and getting more sneaky with it in their ability to find hiding places to catch us unsuspecting speeders out.

I've got a little more reserved with my driving since I've been had for speeding and got 3 points on my licence.

I too got flashed in Coventry, gonna contest it as the signs were very confusing, 58 m.p.h in a 50 limit. God it annoyed me, they are targetting the wrong people.

Not that it is of any relevance to the alleged offence, but are you sure it was a 60mph limit and not a 50 ? I know that they can prosecute at speeds below the guideline '10% plus 2' threshold, its just that they don't normally bother...

Perhaps they are feeling the pinch..

I got done for doing 65 in a 60 - fine and 3 points. Could have contested it but was going through a marriage breakup and house move at the time and couldn't be bothered with extra hassle.

There was one on a bridge on the A46 when going to BBWF a couple of weeks back. I think they're quite often around there.
