It's a hard job for the organisers greeting people, issuing welcome packs, parking, organising traders, dealing with the hotel etc so if you can spare an hour or so over the weekend we would be most grateful. I know a few of you have said you'd help so please could you give us preferred times so we can draw up a rota.
This will give the organisers some time to have a look round and chat to people (I'm sure jeffsy and Mrs FFG will have something to say here) and after all we've done a shedload of work to make this happen so I think we deserve some free time - no wonder I get so bladdered at the BBQ as it's the first chance to chill out!
It's also a good laugh and you do get to meet a lot of people.
I hope we get a better response than the TVRCC had for Rockingham!

I'll most likely arrive around 9:30 on the Saturday - so you could put me down for an hour or so from 10:00 (if you supply the coffee.. er...drink) - similar time on Sunday, subject to drunk /M

We'll be there Saturday as early as I can get Lorraine out. She has a habit of making a job last four times as long as it should if she wants to, IYKWIM.

The big difference of course, is the Rock do was charged for whilst no concession at all was offered to people who volunteered to help. Why on earth should folk be expected to work at an event they've had to pay to enter, organised by a business (the club is a business) that they subscribe to for the events it offers (amongst other things), where a steep booking fee was also imposed on top of the ticket price.

Mate you deserve all the help you need and I'll happily offer some time (even as a non-griff driver), but IMHO the club were rather out of order and the event suffered as a consequence (donut ring being an obvious example where it didn't run on the Sunday despite being a major feature for many attendees) due to 'no staff...'

The Club is a non-profit Business, and the Event had to pay for itself. rolleyes
Everyone gave up hours/days of their time FOC...many of whom missed the weekend almost completely to make sure that those attending had a great time. Very much like the Growl. banghead

Wind yer neck in mate, I wasn't knocking the event or the obvious hard work by the organisers; it was very enjoyable and a huge success from what I could see (and appreciated, lest that be in doubt for any reason). But there was a clear lack of bodies doing the doing and the point I've made is valid. As for the club being a 'non-profit' business, it might not pay dividends to shareholders but I expect it does make profits on some things and losses on others depending how they go... I doubt it operates consistently in the red overall 'though, does it? rolleyes
