Anyone Crashed an Evo???

'Always be able to stop in less than the distance you can see'
Just because you can corner at silly speeds doesn't mean you should. What you're talking about isn't a fault with the evo - any car will be hard to handle under extreme conditions like that.
As Evo said a while back - "You'll run out of talent long before this car will, so no accident will be a small one".
The problem with the rally refugees (evo/scoob/GT4/pulsar) is they mask peoples' driving skills and make you feel like Colin McRrae even if you actually drive like Granny Smith.
If you come hooning over a blind crest/round a blind corner and find you've run out of road then the car is out of options. It's all down to the driver to plot out the safest course and tell the car what to do in time and in a manner that doesn't unbalance it. You can't just slam on the brakes, which is what many peoples' first (and only) reaction is.
I'm still baffled as to why there isn't a graduated system for performance cars like there is for bikes...

I see my "talent" as above average.
Leave out the obvious please!!
'Always be able to stop in less than the distance you can see' etc
Next you will be saying Mirror , signal, manoeuvre, !
See, there is your problem. Race tracks and roads are a bit different, above average "talent" or not.Leave out the obvious please!!

It is obvious - You were obviously travelling far too fast, in a built up residential area, and you had a "spectator" What was he watching exactly?Leave out the obvious please!!

And you stacked it.
It was your fault. Deal with it. And don't expect sympathy or a class action law suit against Mitsubishi.
Similar things are happening with Civic Type Rs. Lots of (young)people are running out of talent whilst driving and crashing them. Was told this by Greenlight insurance who are now refusing to quote to anyone under 25. Their figures IIRC show that 1 in 9 of CTRs that they cover will end up a total loss.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The CTRO forum has an annual cull every winter, and early EP3s are now cheap enough that they are being bought by people with very little driving experience. Add to that a chassis set-up which is less forgiving than most modern cars (and better for it) and no stability control (ditto) and you've got a recipe for backwards through some street furniture. What seems to happen is that the car starts to understeer and they just keep winding more lock on. When this doesn't work and they eventually lift or brake, it snaps into oversteer and they can't get the lock off. Then, they blame the tyres or the car.WeirdNeville said:

Oh dear, Assumptions assumptions assumptions.
Assumption 1. I came here for symapathy. WRONG
Assumption 2. I dont think it was my fault. WRONG
Assumption 3. I intend filing a law suit against Mitsubishi. Oh so WRONG
Assumption 4. I am not over it. Even more wrong.
I push my cars to the absolute limit and thats when things can sometimes go wrong. Now this could be something to do with talent although this is not always the case.
Show me a Formula 1 driver that has never lost control of their car?? Does this mean they are all lacking talent? Me thinks Not!!
Ps look up the thread and you will see me saying "i was driving far too fast!!"
I came here out of nothing but curiosity thats all!!
Assumption 5. We all still think you are a nob for driving like a muppet and damaging two other peoples cars and their house.Assumption 1. I came here for symapathy. WRONG

the problem is i think that the amount of sheer grip of the evo actually encourages driving right on the limit, even though the car still feels planted, (try lifting off in a sweeping bend in any car, and you'll feel the back end car protesting, but driving at the speeds that would show up dangerous oversteer on lift off gives you no time to correct or react before you are going backwards) so i don't think it is the car per se that is the problem, it is the cornering speed it encourages.
I fail to see what question your asking? You admit to being a bit of a cock and thats why you stuffed your car. And then ask if other Evo 8 drivers have crashed? Are you hoping to find other bad drivers? Or are you hoping that the Evo 8 has a "problem" like the original Audi TT that you can blame your crash on?
If it's neither of these questions what was it you wanted?
