VW Hosts Van-tastic Party
Volkswagen marks 60th anniversary of Camper in style
Volkswagen is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its Transporter with a festival in Hannover taking place from 5-7 October. Thanks to the Transporter’s (or “Bulli” as it is more affectionately known) cult status and following, the event is expected to attract hundreds of unusual and historic Volkswagen vans from around the world. That means everything from the very first T1 van with its split-windscreen, through to restored T2 Campers with Porsche 911 engine transplants will be there.
The three-day extravaganza will comprise of concerts, camping areas, model displays, a showcase area for owners’ models, dedicated club stands, an autojumble and an open air cinema. Sounds cool. And now we’ve heard that a three-day weekend ticket costs just €25 per vehicle, we might have to plan a visit over there ourselves.

Had a MkII for a while. Fun in the sun, crap other times.
Slow, noisy, piggy roll, sidewinds made m-way drives like tacking a galleon.
Went for a November cycling hol to the Lakes one November, but bus was frozen up and no 'proper' heating to warm it up. So had to abandon it and stash bikes in my Honda Aerodeck hatch.
