cooling fan

Hi

Cooling fan comes on when engines starts on my e46 318ci, even when its cold, lasts for a few mins then goes off..

A new rad was fitted recently, is this the norm?

Any suggestions would be grateful..

Yes, it is not just a cooling fan for the engine it is also for the air conditioning evaporator...
