Hi
Can anyone help?
I am thinking about changing my steering wheel for something new.
Can anyone suggest any that will fit? MOMO etc?
What do I need to look for?
Thanks
Rich

Ive swapped mine twice, 1st time for a black and polished metal one i got off e-bay, looked fine but slightly smaller than the original. Now i have a momo fighter which has a nice wooded wheel with black leather and a gun metal centre. I looked at some nardi ones but wasnt too sure. Momo should be a straight swap mine was.

Is you current wheel a momo fitting? (top screw at 12 o clock position), or personal fitting (top screws at 11 and 1 o clock positions).

Hi
I've just checked and the top screws are at 11 & 1 (personal)
So what does this mean in terms of potential wheels?
Thanks

You could get a TVR one like mine smile

They pop up on Ebay from time to time.

The personal mount is common to several brands nardi being one of them. Momo in the UK it more common. Option 1 is to change the boss to suit which you get if necessary (expensive and a pain to fit usually? Option two is to bolt a conversion ring onto the current boss and then bolt the new wheel to that. Got mine off eBay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CLASSIC-STEERING-WHEELS around £15. The wheel is about 12mm further away from the dash when fitted. With some wheels having less dish on them than the tvr original, this option works to your advantage.

if you have the original wheel fitted, you'll need a new boss to fit a Momo.

I ordered a Nardi Personal earlier this year which was a straight swap. Nardi has no distributor in the UK, so I ordered here:

info@spangenberg-gmbh.de
www.spangenberg-gmbh.de

it was cheaper than the used ones I was offered, check this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Just found this thread...

I have a Tam and I'm trying to ditch my 'personal' wheel for a OMP wheel. I have found this hub (mentioned in this thread) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nardi-Personal-Stee...

I just wondered if anyone has used one and if there is any catch? I also wondered about the TVR horn button and if that is a standard size with all wheels... I dont want to loose my TVR button.

And the only other question was... does anyone know if the personal boss's that TVR use had 12 holes in them for both config's...

Thanks

Stu

You just need to remove the old wheel, offer up the new momo and mark the bolt holes out then drill the new positioned holes and tap them out, you will find they all fall near enough in the centre between the origanal holes so it wont weeken anything, i find i cant get a good balance between having the pedals to far away and the steering wheel to close but this helps a little because it doesn't use the momo boss and my race wheel has a slightly shallower dish to it.

I read on here that it was possible to fit a Momo wheel to a standard TVR fitting even if the screws were in the wrong place simply by removing and rotating the boss. It can't be this simple right?

Has anyone tried this?

no, they are different size threads one is M4 one is M5 (Or M5/M6 cant remember off hand) but more importantly the Momo is not as deep as a Personal, so if you want the indicator storks in the right position the 10mm thick adaptor ring puts them so.
