Help top end of my engines is covered in oil!!!!!!

Right, I just started my Cerbera up while it was still warm. Some water splashed up on the windscreen from the left hand side. I got out to investigate the water and found oil all over the top of the engine and even on the underside of the bonnet. Know idea about the water, the oils more of a worry now. The engine sounds fine and performance is mad as ever.

For the past few weeks I’ve noticed a slight taping noise which seams to be coming from the shaft that powers the alternator. I suspect that this is also where all the oil is coming from and the alternator belt is chucking it all over the pace. When first started this morning I had a few problems with the rev counter which I thought was odd. Not sure if it related but thought Id mention it.

At the moment I’m waiting for it to cool down to check the oil level. Please tell me its not dead?!!

Did your fans come on?

Alternator and rev counter via the route of the big fuse are one thing to look at as mine has just done the same but with no oil. The fuse was fine in mine so its down to the alternator or a bad connection in the system.

To be honest not to fully up on the ins and outs of the engine but I'm learning fast.

I had a simlar experience recently, after washing the car on a slope. Water had sat in the V of the engine and then a/the oil breather pipe had come off leaving oil deposits in the same area. When I started the engine one of the belts (dont ask me which one) was sat in the oil mixture, and it sprayed the sheite everywhere.

oil breather pipe coming off the driver side air intake is a common one... areldite it back on / threaded pipe - and away ye go!

Water, prob where its been sat outside, and as previous post says, just been thrown up from some where... fans came on, and blew it thru...

Possibly a silly question, but are you sure your oil filler cap is on?
