Just seen on today parked in Mayfair ,London. Some dark metalalic grey with a Bordeaux and Black Piano type finish interior.

I must have walked around it a million times...trying to find something not too like about it. Still think its a beautiful car. The interior is nicer than Astons and as every other car in the street was either a VW Bently or a Aston.. it was refreshing to see something a bit different.

And the Lady !! yes lady owner said she loved it and she felt safe driving it fast (But not stupid fast etc) And she had refused to ever drive her Husbands Porsches or lambos ! This he bought last week.. and she said he wont ever see the keys again !! The best thing they ever did was to stick a good old ZF into it.

I wish ...

The one angle that it doesn't look good from is standing at the side of the car, looking along the "nose" of it, the number plate mounting looks awkward from the side. I think I've got a driving day coming up in the QP Auto soon.

For me. A full out sports car is a almost a joke in the UK. They look so silly driving a Ferrari convertable at 24 MPH in London. The Quattro is sedate/stealth, I would imagine most would have no idea of just how fast it can go.

I want !

I imagine depreciation is the proverbial brick attached to a pallet of bricks dropped into a bottomless lake? wink

Prob the only sedan I'd drive and not feel like I should have bought a sportscar as it's uber cool - but surely, the above is relevant? Looking at the 3200 they are now under £20k...(!) It would scare me what one of these would be worth as a non dealer trade in after a couple of years? 1/2 price?

3200 will never ever be seen to the same car. Bought by different quality of mankind.
The Automatics I can never see losing too much. They have "Upped" the quality to a new level.
The Quattroporte is far superior a machine in its own right than the Volkswagen /Bentley. More class and right now damm nicer to look at.

IF I had th ecash.. I would be buying one today if I could find the colour sceme. THen take it and have the stereo ripped out and something much better fitted (Bose etc is rubbish) Maybe some top DLS etc and a Custom Genesis amp all hooked up to work with the factory head unit.

is the QP any better or worse than other big cars similar price? merc amg s classes and bmw 7s depreciate horribly, as do jags. beyond that im struggling to think of a competitor anyhow. is it worse on the qp? maybe but none of them are good!

ps. think they should have offered the full auto from day one...i guess theyve realised that now

I would bet a Fiver that any BMW will drop quicker than a chavs mums knickers on a friday night.

The Quattroporte in Auto should hold well. For what they cost and the current s/h value of the previous model i doubt owners will worry too much.

still would like to change the central dash section..could do with a little more "Bling" !

Same old same old - engage brain before posting...

Yes the 3200 did drop like a brick, and early 4200 have followed. The QP on the other hand is holding its wedge very well - better than any Maserati in a very long time.

I bought my mint 3200 under 18 months old for 50% of book at 6k miles. You won't find many QP's at 50% after 3 years, especially one with only 6000 on the clock. Of course it's a big saloon, and big saloons aren't the best at holding wedge - but I don't think you'll be dissapointed against an S Class here...

I think many paddle shifters will want to trade up to the ZF . So expect a few more PS on the market soon. The Auto is the better car by miles.. You cannot ask such a car to drive like a Asmatic on all fours in city traffic

I'm not wanting to dampen the image or the quality of this car ..... but why did they end up calling it "The Maserati Fourdoor" ??
They should have given it a bit more of an appealing name I think.
I know "Quattroporte" sounds a little exotic with it being an Italian word but damn... it just means 'fourdoor'.

I do like these cars by the way. smile

Sorry guys, but took delivery of mine last week. It is superb. Still in love with it of course. Have always wanted one but could not stand the gearbox - tried them out on Ferraris as well, just as bad unless you are changing up at 7 thou and even then it is not smooth. Clutches last 10,000 miles. The auto sold it for me. Went for a sport GT in Grigio Granito (gunmetal grey). Only logical course but costly (did not want a German or Swedish saloon, and Jags are for old men - that's me in body but not mind). Only just running it in but it sounds great. Hoping for reliability (3 year warranty with service included gives some peace of mind). It is a large car, and certainly has presence - people do a double-take when they see it. Certainly enjoyed washing it this weekend - a girlfriend pointed out that it has very feminine curves! Hope I am still in love with it this time next year.

THE most disappointing car I have ever driven!
The shift quality and excecution was appaling, but I do realize that this particular quirk has been rectified. How on earth that system ever got released for sale is a mystery.
The ride was jiggly and unsettled and if the motor had 400hp I'm a monkey's uncle (OK abuse me if you will).
The intrior trim (in Black with red stitiching looked like a sado-masochistic parlour and the swithgear layout was beyond my comprehension.
Now for the difficult bit: A Jaguar VDP or XJR is so superior, I am surprised at the Italians for signing off something so inferior. After all they would have had the likes of the Jaguar as a benchmarking tool.
Over priced Italian tat and a waste of a very special nameplate.

you talking about the paddle shift version? . I do think they could have made the center dash area a little nicer.

I've driven all the versions/trims etc and they are all great even the Duo select paddle manual version (it was an 06 model)

The new auto is pretty good too as long as you order the paddle shift option - this is a must have - so you can hold the box in gear and only change up when you want to. Without the paddles I found the auto keeps changing up and then when you give it some beans the response and kick down is way to slow.

All in all a great package.
