Is that you daztheplumber of Nottingham?
I'm one of the Griffith guys you talked to yesterday, the one you talked to before going out for a test run. Hows the car running now, does it pick up better?
An idea on that odd tapping noise - does it go away if you put your foot on the clutch? I know a couple of cars (mine included) which have an odd tapping which goes away with pressure on the clutch pedal.
As for your handbrake problem - try this thread or use the search function and search the Griffith and Chimaera forums for Handbrake Ratchet clicky
