Was curious to see how cheap BMWs are in the States compared to here.

Here are a few examples:-

335i Saloon = $38,900
328i Convertible (new model) = $43,200
Z4 3.0i Roadster = $36,400
Z4M Coupe = $50,100
X5 3.0i = $45,900

All above are basic specs but when you divide by current exchange rate of 2.02 its a little disheartening for us UK buyers.

In fact its daylight robbery regardless of the US spec differences eg £25k for the Z4M instead of over £40K here and £19.5K for the 335i instead of over £31K here or probably worst of all the X5 at under £23k instead of £40k here.

There's no tax at all in thse prices - US buyers would have to add $3-5k on the lower priced cars. Of course in Europe there's VAT at various rates.

I find the price of the *entry level* 3 Series, a now 3.0L 328i at about $33K (and better equipped than in the UK) the most annoying. Colleagues in the US tell me they can be leased for $299/mth (+ the taxes).

BMW is suffering with the $ rate though:
