Hi All,

Just recently I have been looking at ad's for Mini's similar to Mini - (2002 Mini Cooper S works)and it seems all of them are quite low miles 30/40k

Mine has just gone onto 57k and I was just worried about re-sale value. I am 21, and the car is going to be the majority of my house deposit when I sell it, and dont want to get caught out if you know what a mean.. and be left short pocketed... :-(

It's an awesome car and is absoulutley spotless, its got every extra possible, including the special works split rims :-), i dont think its hight miles, but other ad's make me think it is...

Advice would be appreciated..

Cheers
Matt

Is it high miles? Well no, not in terms of the lifespan of the engine. But yes, by comparison to other cars on the market. At that point market forces take over. For some reason in this country we are obsessed about low mileage so the reality is that you are going to take a hit by comparison to advertised prices. That said the advert is just that, an advert, you don't know how much they are actually selling for...

Having said that, don't think about selling it to a dealer. You'll get royally shafted cos of the mileage!

I've seen higher, but the JCWs do seem to mostly have lower mileage scratchchin. Mines only done 24k and its a 53 plate redface probably 1000 on track ahem redfacewhistle However the resale on mines screwed because I've done too much fettling.paperbag How much do you think you'll get for it?

Thanks everyone! No way would I sell it to a dealer! I am never going to trader in any car!

The car really is quite special, and is a nice mini that stands out. It got extended TLC too, and every extra, so I was hoping for around the 9.5k mark if I sold it around the end of the year... Is that unrealistic? :-(

Many Thanks
Matt

I dont think thats unrealistic at all Matt. I would pay the right money if it's a very clean car. I bet theres some right dogs around with a lot less mileage than yours.

My mate had a 147k Cooper S in a few months ago. Guy bought a fresh interior off him. Car still ran like a dream!

I was under the impression 10-12k per year was average miles for a private car so go figure, above average mileage isn't necessarily a bad thing if service receords are kept and adhered to smile
