How much oil does yours use?

I was just wondering how much engine oil a 500 should use. I have put in a couple of litres over the last 5,000 miles. Is this normal on a 500?

There is no sign of oil/water contamination, so I don't think they are mixing. I can't see any obvious signs of oil on the floor, but have not yet had the chance to look at the filter and sump plug to see if there are any slight leaks down at that end.

P.S. The car has done 28,000 miles, so I am hoping the issue isn't internal

Seems normal to me - I've a '98 Griff 500 (42,000 miles) and I check the oil every week - have to regularly top up the thirsty girl

mine seems to average about half a pint every 1000 miles

Old engine - 1 to 2% (ie 1 to 2 litres oil to 100 litres of fuel)

New engine - same

Apparently 1-2% is not seen as abnormal

I am waiting to get a few more '000 miles on the engine before I worry about it too much

On a roundtrip to Italy and a week of spirited driving on those gorgious mountain passes, all in all about 3.500 Km, it will burn about 2 liters.
